If your organisation operates outside the EEA but engages with the EEA, GDPR mandates the appointment of a representative in the European Union. This is required if you intend to offer goods/services to EEA individuals or monitor their behaviour. Similarly, under UK GDPR, organisations without a UK presence may need a representative to provide goods/services or monitor individuals in the UK. Post-Brexit, certain situations may necessitate representatives in both the EEA and the UK.
